Crossing the Line

Something I don't often mention is that I can tell the difference between molds and their toxins. Not just tell, but smell. Each kind has a unique scent. But it's more than just individual molds; there's regional molds as well.

I'm currently back in Maryland, and there's a distinct difference between what I smell here and what I've smelled elsewhere.

For instance, the molds in North Carolina are unpleasant, but my reaction remains consistent. I tense up, move on to good air, and the single inhalation doesn't drop me to my knees. Of course, if I breathe little bits multiple times, they build up and I get exhausted.

The scents in Maryland, however, are unbearable. One whiff and I feel exhausted and plummet into a chemically induced depression. I suspect they impact me so hard because these are the molds that made me sick in the first place.

Beyond North Carolina and Maryland, there are also Florida molds. I can't remember them too well because I haven't been there for a couple months, but I know they too are different from the others; they affect me more significantly than NC molds do.

Since the east coast states are in relatively close proximity to each other and have sort-of similar climates, I want to see if I would react less somewhere totally different, for instance, the West.

It's also less populated out west, which means less contaminated people and places to encounter, even if the percentage of contamination is the same as in the east.

Check out that line down the middle of the country! I want to cross that line.
